Forest Planning Division

The Forest Planning Division is responsible for the planning of forestry policy drafting; forest survey, conservation, utilization, and development; forest management plans; as well as forest information processing; and office automation.

    (1) Comprehensive planning, analyzing, and drafting of forestry policies.
    (2) Comprehensive assessments of forestry policies.
  2. Forestry-related public construction plans
    (1) Comprehensive planning and drafting of forestry-related medium- and long-term public construction projects.
    (2) Planning and drafting of preliminary work for forestry-related public construction projects.
  3. Forestry administration plans
    (1) Proposing and approval of medium-term forestry policy plans.
    (2) Proposing and approval of annual forestry administrative plans.
    (3) Collecting data for annual COA surveys.
  4. Reviewing agricultural and ecological related matters of environmental impact assessments
  5. General international and cross-strait affairs
    (1) Integration and planning of general international and cross-strait exchange and cooperation plans.
    (2) Attending international and cross-strait meetings of forestry-related organizations.
  6. Indigenous peoples affairs
    Integration of indigenous peoples affairs held by the Forestry Bureau.
  7. Science and Technological programs
    (1) Proposing medium -term science and technological outline programs for reviewing.
    (2) Collecting, reviewing and approving for science and technological projects.
  8. Legal advice on forestry-related Acts and rules responsible by the Forestry Bureau.
  9. Thorough reviews of the Forestry Act and the Enforcement Rules for the Forestry Act
  10. Coordination task force with the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute and the Endemic Species Research Institute

    (1) Supervising forest resource investigation.

  3. Aerial photography and remote sensing
    (1) Supervision of aerial photography and remote sensing plans.
    (2) Archiving aerial photography and remote sensing data.
  4. Territorial spatial planning
    (1) Collecting opinions about territorial spatial planning
    (2) Making territorial spatial plans and collecting amendment ideas
  5. Greenhouse gas reduction and management
    (1) Writing national forest greenhouse gas reports.
    (2) Gathering opinions from relevant agricultural departments about greenhouse gas reduction and management.

Information Management Sec.
Division affairs

Other than general information management, task automation, and maintenance and management of relevant software and hardware, the Information Management Section focuses on installing and promoting the geographic information system (GIS) for the forestry sector, managing forestry archives, and developing relevant applications. The section is also responsible for the planning, choreographing, supervision, and advocacy of information affairs. The key tasks are as follows:

  1. The planning, installing, and promotion of the forestry geographic information system:
    (1) Collecting relevant data about forestry operation and management, such as forest resource survey results and information about national forestry areas, natural reserves, forest recreation areas, protection forests, and forest roads. Also, setting up a forest geographic archive and an online application platform to facilitate the Forestry Bureau’s work.
    (2) Encouraging data circulation and access to information within the bureau, setting up access for external users and allowing downloads, and making forestry geographic information transparent to all.
    (3) Holding training and workshops for staff members, promoting GIS and enhancing staff members’ data processing skills, and improving applications at work.
  2. Information safety and personal data protection
    (1) Designing and promoting information safety policies and the information safety management system. Ensuring the confidentiality, applicability and intactness of information assets, as well as the stability and continuous operations of computerized facilities, information systems, and Internet facilities.
    (2) Implementing protective measures for information safety, avoiding cyber attacks against staff members, and lessening follow-up impacts.
    (3) Setting up a personal data protection system and promoting personal data protection - all based on the laws.
  3. Planning, establishing, and maintaining an essential computerized environment
    (1) Setting up and maintaining computer facilities, an Internet framework, servers, and storage devices.
    (2) Setting up and maintaining essential online services, such as name resolution, proxy server, email, catalogue, and storage.
  4. Promoting Internet applications and company network applications
    (1) Promoting office automation, establishing company networks, and providing online administration (such as meeting room, vehicle, stationery, small purchase, and personnel management) to improve work efficiency.
    (2) Setting up a global site to provide open information. Facilitate the circulation and transparency of information.
