The first section from the 0km mark to the 3.5km mark is smooth. There are not many ups and downs and it is easy to walk on the forest path covered with pine needles. Starting from the 3.5km mark, it becomes steeper and the trail goes up and down until one reaches the wooden steps to go down. At the 1km mark of the trail, visitors can go left and walk about 1.5km to reach the top of the main peak of Hengling Mountain which is so named (literally meaning a mountain going sideways) because its direction is different from the mountains nearby.
