Fushan Trail

Located above the Fushan Settlement in Alishan Township, Chiayi County, the Fushan Trail, 1,280~1,360m above sea level, can be accessed from the 69km mark of Provincial Highway 18. There is a pavilion at the trailhead and a rest platform at the 430m mark. To the right of the platform is a stepped trail leading downward to the Fushan Settlement. Visitors can also continue on the trail and turn right eventually to connect to the stepped trail and return to the platform to walk back to the trailhead. The total distance of this route is about 1,850m. It is an easy walk and the views along the first and second half of the trail are totally different. Burnt trees can be seen at some locations. There are the results of a fire in February 2009. To prevent fire from extending to the Fushan Settlement, a fire line was opened. After the fire, trees were planted along the fire line to turn it into an ecological trail.
