The trail is inside the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area. The trailhead is at the First Forest Compartment of the Alishan Working Circle at the Zhushan Forest Road 3.2km mark where the Zhushan Line Railway crosses. It runs by the Second Forest Compartment of the Alishan Working Circle and the 28-3 and 29-1 Forest Compartments of the Duigaoyue Working Circle in the NTU Experimental Forest. A round trip on the 1,732m trail takes about 3 hours. The trail was originally a smaller path during the Japanese Rule Period. After WWII, watch towers were set up to observe and monitor the forest land. Later, because of the landscape and beautiful scenery, it was rebuilt into an ecological trail. The trail ends at the summit of Duigaoyue Mountain where there is an open wooden building with an observation deck. From there, visitors can see Jade Mountain (called Xingaoshan during the Japanese Rule) in the distance. The views are very beautiful. Being so high up and able to see so far away can open one’s mind.
