This forest was isolated by tourists due to its remote location. Big mammals are not able to be seen in this area; there are only some rodents in the forest. Taiwan Keteleeria has survived since ice age and is not widely spread in Taiwan.

Thus, only a few portion of Taiwan Keteleeria about 200 plants left could be found within Ryukyu pine area. Taiwan Keteleeria is the evergreen arbors of Pinaceae with straight and strong trunk. It is recognized as a good building material for its compaction textures. However, Taiwan Keteleeria in this area is reaching its elder age. Due to the difficulties of sprouting and lacking of sun lights, it is very challenging for the young Taiwan Keteleeria to grow up.
