The Reserve has an altitude between 400 and 2,772 meters, so the forest form traverses from broad-leaved forest to coniferous forest in different altitude areas. Mammals like Ursus thibetanus formosanus, Prionailurus bengalensis, Muntiacus reevesi, Manis pentadactyla are important rare animals in this area. Rare plants here are Mitrastemon kawasasakii, Osmanthus enervius, Prunus transarisanensis, and so on.
