Syue-shan-keng River Major Wildlife Habitat was formerly stout camphor parent stand administered by Taichung Branch, FANCA. The area is to the southwest of Syue Mountain. In 2000, the FANCA set up “Syue-shan-keng River Major Wildlife Habitat,” aside from protecting stout camphor (Cinnamomum kanehirae Hayata) forest and primeval broadleaf forest, the establishment also provides further protection to wildlife that inhabit within the area.

Establishment of the reserve is to prevent illegal logging and damage, and offer complete functions as a natural reserve. The habitat has made great contribution to the conservation and maintenance of local natural resources.
