The agencies carrying out the Control, Removal, and Restoration Project for Aggressive Invasive Species include the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Economic Affairs, along with local governments in Miaoli County, Taichung City, Nantou County, Changhua County, Yunlin County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County, Taitung County, and Lienchiang County. From 2025 to 2028, the project aims to strengthen inspection and removal efforts targeting at least 97 African sacred ibises and 157,800 green iguanas, with the goal of eradication wherever possible. Regarding the removal of white popinacs, the project will build on previous achievements by continuing maintenance operations to prevent their regrowth. In addition, white popinac removal and reforestation efforts will be carried out in key ecological hotspot areas nationwide, covering 120 hectares. A further 20 hectares of white popinac removal and reforestation will be implemented with subsidies provided to the Lienchiang County Government, with the aim of gradually restoring original ecological conditions. Moreover, subsidies will be provided to the Pingtung and Taitung County Governments to remove giant sensitive plants along streams across 150 hectares, in order to restore natural forest ecosystems. Continuous inspections and monitoring will be conducted to ensure the effectiveness of removal efforts. These actions will contribute to the connectivity of the TEN and deliver benefits including biodiversity conservation, soil and water conservation, carbon sequestration, land conservation, and the development of an agricultural and forestry resource-based green economy.
