The sloped ground sill works on the riverbed of Wushikeng River in Heping District, Taichung City, was discovered by tourists to resemble the Turkish town "Pamukkale" and became famous overnight after photos were uploaded to the internet. It has now become a popular photo taking hotspot with a huge influx of tourists. In consideration of the safety of the people, the Dongshih Forest District Office, Forestry Bureau, has set up a simple retractable sliding gate on the river access path, and has also set up five notice boards to remind members of the public to pay attention to the dangerous waters. In addition, rainfall upstream of the river could cause flash flooding, causing the water level to rise sharply, so visitors should avoid entering the river. However, some tourists still ignore the notices and sneak into the water to take pictures. The Dongshih Forest District Office would like to remind the public that flood season is coming, and that rainfall is likely to cause the water level to rise suddenly. Tourists must avoid entering dangerous waters to protect their own safety. The Dongshih Forest District Office pointed out that in order to prevent unauthorized entry of people into the river and unknowingly endangering themselves, the Forest District Office has installed a simple retractable sliding gate for public safety. Members of the public are urged not to climb over the gate or to enter the riverbed from other areas. Finally, the Dongshih Forest District Office emphasized that flood season is approaching and there will be frequent rainfall in the mountains, so the water upstream of Wushikeng River may rise abruptly without warning. To prevent accidents, people must pay attention to their own safety and refrain from entering the water to avoid danger.
