Alishan Forest Railway to Require Instant Payment for Online Bookings Starting March 2, 2026 To improve the quality of ticketing services and the integrity of the booking process, the Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office will implement "instant payment" mechanism within its online ticketing system, effective from 06:00 AM (GMT+8) on March 2, 2026 (Monday). Currently, the payment deadline allows for completion within two days (inclusive) from the date of booking. However, due to the limited number of trains and seating capacity on the Alishan Forest Railway, there have been numerous instances where a large number of tickets were reserved online but remained unpaid by the deadline. This resulted in unused seats during actual departures, preventing other passengers from securing tickets. To enable passengers to book tickets more efficiently, the AFRCHO will require simultaneous booking and payment starting March 2, 2026. Under the new policy, passengers must complete their payment immediately after booking online. To ensure fair access and improve seat utilization, any reservation without immediate payment will be automatically canceled and released back into the system. The AFRCHO kindly reminds passengers to confirm their itinerary and payment method before proceeding with a booking.
