The “2026 Bamboo Expo” officially opened today (06/12) at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei. This is the first time that the expo has been jointly organized with the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency (FANCA). With “Bamboo X Good Idea” as its theme, the exhibition is showcasing the material revolution and future vision of Taiwan’s bamboo industry under the trend of net-zero emissions. The event opened at the Taipei exhibition venue, but will be linking six satellite exhibition areas, including in Hsinchu, Taichung, Nantou, Hualien, Pingtung, and Yunlin. A series of bamboo industry events will be launched across Taiwan over the next several months.Taipei Exhibition Area Highlights: From the Resilience of the Mountains and Forests to the Room of the Future The FANCA stated that the Taipei venue is located at “Gallery 02 - Taiwan Design Museum” in Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, and the exhibition will run from June 12 to 21. The exhibition is themed around “From the Charm of the Mountains and Forests, Establishing Industrial Standards, and Building the Room of the Future.” Across themed zones including “Know Bamboo,” “Harvest,” “Build,” “Nourish,” and “Coexist,” visitors are guided through the journey of bamboo materials from their place of origin to daily life. The exhibition not only introduces common commercial bamboo species in Taiwan and their characteristics, but also presents the achievements of modern bamboo forest management, bamboo processing technology and architectural applications. It further demonstrates how craftsmanship, aesthetics and living spaces can all integrate bamboo, where it becomes a sustainable material that is low-carbon, durable, and design-oriented.Featured Seminars: Exploring the Green Puzzle of Carbon Sink Cities During the Taipei event period, a series of featured seminars will be held concurrently from June 12 to 14 at 14:00. Experts from the fields of architecture, design, forestry, and circular economy will be invited to share their insights on bamboo construction material market trends, engineering applications, interior design, and the reuse of bamboo industrial residual materials. The public will gain a deeper understanding of how bamboo materials can offer carbon reduction, environmental protection, aesthetics, and industrial value. On June 12, Wang Wan-Chih (Deputy Executive Director, Taiwan Architecture Center), Chen Chung-Jen (Chairman, Taiwan Green Collar Association), and Yang De-Hsin (Professor, Department of Forestry, National Chung Hsing University) are invited to discuss the application potential and market opportunities of bamboo construction materials in modern architecture. On June 13, Yang Yen-Yu (Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Feng Chia University), Chou Ti (General Manager, U-R-A Co., Ltd.), and Chuang Min-Chieh (Researcher & Director of Wood Utilization Center, Experimental Forest, National Taiwan University) will be sharing empirical evidence on the durability and practical applications of bamboo construction materials in daily life. On June 14, Kuo Wen-Yi (CEO, C.H.C. Technology Co., Ltd.), Shen Wei-Fu (General Manager, Bamboo Education Co., Ltd.), and Lee Lu-Chih (CEO, Leezen Education Foundation) will be exploring the development of bamboo materials and the application of residual materials from an innovative perspective.Six Satellite Exhibition Areas to Showcase Bamboo-themed Lifestyle Applications from Across Taiwan The FANCA stated that after the opening of the Bamboo Expo in Taipei, it will also be launching special events at six satellite exhibition areas across Taiwan:Hsinchu | Bamboo × Technology × Lifestyle: Curated around the theme of “Bamboo in Everyday Life and the Future,” the exhibition connects culture, technology and aesthetics through the immersive multi-sensory experiences offered by the Bamboo Living Market, the innovative achievements led by ITRI, and the bamboo architectural art created by National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University in collaboration with an international team. It showcases the infinite possibilities of bamboo from daily applications to future visions, becoming a bright stage for exploring the diverse values of bamboo. The event will be held on June 27-28.Taichung | Discovering Bamboo in Basianshan: Through the Bamboo Construction Experiment launched at the Basianshan National Forest Recreation Area Visitor Center, it showcases the unique charm of bamboo as a sustainable construction material. The flexible application of bamboo materials can be seen in interior decoration and architectural construction through the interplay of structural resilience and spatial aesthetics. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the tranquil atmosphere of the forests and experience the warm texture and innovative craftsmanship of bamboo architecture, bearing witness to the infinite possibilities of green materials evolving from olden day traditions to modern lifestyles. The event will run from July 1-31.Nantou | A Journey of Bamboo - Exploring the Hometown of Zhushan Bamboo Craftsmen: Centered around Zhushan and Caotun, the project links together bamboo forest management, craft industries, and the local hospitality sector in the planning of in-depth bamboo art mini-tours. During the exhibition period, Yuan Tai Bamboo Art Workshop and Pu Yuan Workshop will be open to the public, while bamboo forest healing experiences will be offered at Da’an Bamboo Forest and Lugu Xiaobantian Recreation Farm. To connect the special exhibition at the Craft Center, the Caoxiedun Yashe Market, and the Nantou Bamboo Festival, a shuttle service will be provided to help guide visitors through the hometown of artisans. Guests will get to experience the rich heritage and tourism appeal of Nantou’s bamboo culture amidst the lively atmosphere of the day and night markets. The event will be held in Caotun on July 11-12 and in Zhushan on July 18-19.Hualien | Living with Bamboo: Connecting the four main venues of Fuli Farmers’ Association, Luoshan Bamboo Forest Trail, Luoshan Recreation Area, and Fucha Hall, the event showcases the unique craftsmanship and aesthetics of bamboo integrated into the natural environment. Visitors will get to experience the harmonious resonance between bamboo and culture, and explore new applications for sustainable living. The event will be held on July 25-26.Pingtung | The Rhythm of Linhousilin: Centered around the bamboo art installations at Linhousilin Forest Park, the exhibition showcases the multifaceted dimensions of the Linhousilin Forest in terms of industrial development, local consumption, and rural landscapes through iconic works such as “Embrace” and “Passage.” The event brings together bamboo industry manufacturers in the Kaohsiung and Pingtung regions to jointly create a space for displaying and selling bamboo products. Surrounded by art installations, visitors will enjoy an interactive experience on the transformation process of bamboo materials from traditional craftsmanship into modern aesthetics and witness the harmonious integration of bamboo culture and local lifestyles. The event will be held on August 15-16 and August 22-23.Yunlin | Bamboo in Dreams: Taking place at the Douliu Sugar Refinery and Caoling Shibi, the event connects ecological landscapes with bamboo forest therapy, showcasing the diverse value of bamboo materials in contemporary life. Through the “Flowing Art Feast” that combines wine-tasting, bamboo pole hiking, and interactive light installations, visitors will witness the in-depth implementation of sustainable aesthetics. Activities include interactive bamboo culinary education tours and displays that showcase the multiple utilities of bamboo materials. The event closely reflects international trends and integrates artisanship, experimental bamboo construction, and wellness across different sectors. The immersive artistic atmosphere creates a therapeutic sensory feast for the public that connects nature with industry.
