The Chiayi Branch of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency (FANCA Chiayi) held the grand opening ceremony for the greenhouse space “Realm of Light” of Alishan Botanical Garden at the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area today (06/18), officially announcing the opening to the public of this new greenhouse exhibition area centered around alpine plant art. “Realm of Light” brings together plant displays, lighting aesthetics, and ecological awareness, providing the public with a new mountain forest space that combines science education and artistic experiences. This venue also opens a new chapter for Alishan’s ecotourism with forest therapy.Recreating the Poetic Atmosphere of Mountains and Forests with Light as a Metaphor The name “Realm of Light” stems from the natural imagery of Alishan, where clouds and mist linger year-round, and the morning light filters through the forest canopy to form an interplay with the leaves’ shadows. The greenhouse space is centered around alpine plants, mist, light and shadow, and ecological awareness. Through plant curation techniques and spatial circulation design, artists present the rich and delicate life of alpine plants undergoing changes in humidity, light, and seasons. When visitors wander amidst the interplay of light and mist, the tranquil atmosphere allows them to feel the subtle and serene strength of the mountain’s vitality. Inside the greenhouse, a variety of plants representative of Alishan have been planted, showcasing the diversity of species in Alishan’s unique high-altitude environment.
