Ranking among the top five mountains in Taiwan, Beidawu Mountain is the last high mountain over 3,000m above sea level at the south end of the Central Mountain Range. It is revered by the local Paiwan people as the holy mountain. They call it Meli-miligang, meaning beautiful like a dream. The virgin forest on the mountain is the largest in Taiwan and there are plenty of biological resources. The trail passes the Kuaigu Inn and Dawu Shrine and reaches the summit of Beidawu Mountain. It is about 9km in length. The altitude difference is about 1,549m and the entire trail is in the Shuangguihu Wildlife Habitat where the finest natural views in southern Taiwan can be seen. The most stunning beauty is the seas of clouds in autumn and winter.
