Information Date Established March 18, 1996 Area( hectare ) 226.38 Location The whole island of Mianhuayu and its low tide line extend 500 meters to the sea, and the whole island of Huaping Island and its low tide line extend within 200 meters to the sea. Management Agency Keelung City Government Mianhua and Huaping Islets, the volcanic islets, are well preserved in its natural form and volcanic island formation because of its steep landform and used for military control zone. Mianhua Islet is a refuge for over ten thousands birds, and Huaping Islet is the main habitat for Sterna anaethetus and Sula leucogaster. To protect the natural habitat and ecosystem from human damage and to preserve the unique landform, Mianhua and Huaping Islets are announced wildlife refuge and have promoted for birdwatching since 1996.
