Thinning-based public construction

:::

For most construction projects, cement is easily accessible and safe and convenient to use. However, it can never be a part of nature, and its production process isn’t eco-friendly. To reduce the impacts of construction on nature and to protect forest ecology, the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency takes full responsibility in making national forest land remediation projects eco-friendly, energy-saving, and carbon-reducing. Since 2006, the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency has studied ecological remediation for upstream watersheds in state-owned woodland. In 2012, a thinning-based remediation mechanism for national forest land was established. The district offices are required to carry out remediation of wood structures in disaster-stricken areas according to the mechanism. The relevant facilities to build include retaining walls, retaining rails, check dams, revetments, embankments, and hiking trails. For the substantial results in this field, the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency has received the Golden Quality Award of the Public Construction Commission under the Executive Yuan, as well as the Construction Excellence Award of the Council of Agriculture under the Executive Yuan. The agency’s effective work truly deserves recognition.
